About This Policy
I am an independent developer and the sole owner and operator of SHWT ("I," "me," or "the Service"). I collect only the minimum information required to run, secure, and improve the Service. I only collect data essential to deliver redirection functionality, account management (if you opt in), and security/analytics.
2. URL Shortening Data
Long URL
The original link you submit.
Short Link
The generated short URL (for example, shwt.in/go/xyz).
Purpose
To provide the requested redirection service.
3. Account Data (Optional)
Registration Information
To create an account, I collect only your name, email address, and password. This information is required for authentication, account security, and account management. Passwords are stored in encrypted form and are never stored in plain text.
Optional Profile Information
After registration, you may optionally add additional profile details such as first name, last name, phone number, or a profile image (avatar). Providing this information is optional and not required to use the core features of the Service.
Preferences & Settings
I may store account preferences such as acceptance of the Terms of Service and communication preferences. These settings can be updated or disabled at any time from your account dashboard.
Purpose
Account data is used to provide access to dashboards, saved links, analytics features, account security, and optional personalization.
4. Click Data
Minimal Collection
When a short link is clicked, I collect minimal click-related data in aggregated and anonymized form.
IP Address
Temporarily collected for security (e.g., attack detection) and approximate geographic analytics. Anonymized or deleted immediately after processing.
Referrer & Device Info
If provided by browser, used for analytics. Basic user-agent information collected.
5. No Sale of Data
I do not sell, rent, or trade personal information or analytics data to third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
6. Legal & Security Disclosures
I operate as an individual and comply with lawful requests from courts, law enforcement, or government authorities, which may occur without prior notice. If illegal activity is detected, I may report the long URL and relevant identifiers to appropriate authorities.
7. Data Retention
Long URLs & Short Links
Retained while your account is active or until you request deletion.
Aggregated/Anonymized Analytics
May be retained indefinitely for service improvement and trend analysis.
Raw IP Addresses
Anonymized or purged immediately after their initial processing.
8. Jurisdiction & Compliance
While I take steps to protect data, as an individual developer I cannot guarantee full compliance with every international privacy law (for example, GDPR or CCPA). By using the Service, you acknowledge this limitation. Any disputes will be governed by the jurisdiction specified in the Terms of Service.
